(Most of the documents were assembled in the 1920's, but often refer to events from much earlier.  There is a tremendous amount of detail referring to proof of family relationships.)

Ford Garrett, being first duly sworn on his oath deposes and says, that he is a son of Laxton Garrett Sr., who in life and at the time of his death was the owner and in possession of the SE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of Sect.8 Town 3 south, Range 12 west containing 10 acres of land in Gibson County, Indiana and he positively knows that said Laxton Garrett Sr. departed this life, in testate, prior to the 22nd day of May, 1913, leaving him surviving no widow, but leaving as his heirs and only heirs at law, his five children, namely; Ford Garrett (this affiant), Mahlon Garrett, John L. Garrett, Leonidas Garrett and Nancy E. Marvel the wife of James Marvel... signed Ford Garrett. Subscribed and sworn to before me on this 11th day of November, 1925 signed Charles W. Benton, Notary Public
