(Most of the documents were assembled in the 1920's, but often refer to events from much earlier.  There is a tremendous amount of detail referring to proof of family relationships.)

Landon Kell, being first duly sworn on his oath deposes and says, that he was personally acquainted with Jacob W. Hargrove in his life and he positively knows that said Jacob W. Hargrove departed this life, in testate, in the year 1879, prior to the 1st day of September, in said year, leaving him surviving as his only heirs at law his widow, Lottie Hargrove, who was decedents’ second and childless wife, and the following named children, to-wit; William L. Hargrove, Martha Strain, the wife of Albert F. Strain, Fannie Steel the wife of Lewis Steel, Jacob W. Hargrove Jr. and Laura Hargrove . Signed Landon Kell.
