Will of John Lambert of Essex County, New Jersey

Will of John Lambert - Elizabeth Town in the County of Essex and Eastern Division of the Province of New Jersey Yeoman 1737.
In the name of God Amen the Sixth day of October in the Eleventh Year of the Riegn of Our Sovereign Lord George Anno: Domini One thousand Seven hundred and thiry Seven I John Lambert of Elizabeth Town in the County of Essex and Eastern Division of the Province of New Jersey Yeoman being Sick and weak in body but of Sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God therefore Do make and Ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say
First of all I commit my Soul to almighty God who gave it and my body to the Dust whence it was taken to receive a decent Interment in the Earth hoping for a Glorious Resurrection to Eternal life and as touching and concerning all that Temporal and Worldly Estate which it hath pleased God Graciously to bestow upon me I dispose of the same in manner and form following. First I will and ordain that my Just debts shall first be paid by my Executor and Executrix hereinafter named and that the payment be made out of my moveable Estate.
Item (my just Debts and funeral Expenses first paid and discharged) I Give and bequeath unto my well beloved Wife Hannah all my whole moveable Estate the better to Enable her to take the Care of and provide for the maintainance of my poor and Infirm Son Solomon and upon the same consideration I also give grant divise and bequeath unto my said Wife Hannah her heirs and assigns forever all that my now dwelling House Barn and appendages thereto belonging and also all that my whole Homestead of Land whereon my said House and Barn stands and joyning to the same also all that Tract of Land containing six acres which I purchased of James Irish and also all that my salt marsh meadow joyning to the Land of Isaac Hetfield and Elizabeth Town Creek to have and to Hold the same Lands Edifices Buildings and Meadow to her the said Hannah my Wife her Heirs and assigns forever.
Item I give grant devise and bequeath unto my Grandson John Lambert (the son of my Eldest Son John Lambert) and to his heirs and assigns for ever forty acres of Land to be taken out of and from that Tract or Parcel of my Land situate lying and being in the Sounds of Elizabeth Town aforesaid at or near a place commonly called the Ash swamp which said Land I purchased of Capt. Ebenezer Lyon.
Item all that the remaining part and residue of my said Tract or parcel of Land which I purchased of Capt. Ebenezer Lyon aforesaid (not before by me any ways granted or devised) I now give grant devise and bequeath unto my Son John Lambert his heirs and assigns forever.
Item I give grant devise and bequeath unto my Son Richard Lambert and to his heirs and assigns foreverall that the remaining part and residue of my Tract or parcel of Land which I purchased of Samuel Miller and Richard Miller and also all that the remaining part and residue of my Tract or parcel of Land lying and being at or near the said ash swamp which said land I purchased of Jonas Wood and Benjamin Bond Esqrs.
Item all that my Salt marsh meadow at Piles Creek which my honored father Roger Lambert purchased of Barnabas Wines containing about twelve acres of meadow I give grant devise and bequeath unto my said two Sons John Lambert and Richard Lambert to be equally divided amongst them two part and part alike both for quantity and quality and to their and each of their Heirs and assigns forever.
Item I give grant devise and bequeath unto my son David Lambert and to his heirs and assigns forever all that my Tract of Land containing One hundred and forty two Acres be it more or less lying and being at the said Ash swamp which said Tract I purchased of William Darby and also all that my Salt marsh meadow at Piles Creek which my said Honored father Roger Lambert purchased of John Decent containing about two acres and half an acre of meadow.
Item all that my Town rights of unsurveyed Lands and meadows throughout the whole and entire purchase of Elizabeth Town purchase (not before by me any ways granted or devised) I give grant devise and bequeath unto my Said three Sons John Richard and David to be equally Divided amongst them three part and part alike both for quantity and quality and to their and each of their Heirs and assigns forever.
Item I make Ordain and appoint my said Wife Hannah and my trusty friend John Spinning to be Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby revoke and make utterly Void and of none Effect all former Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore in any wise made and Declared Rattifying and Confirming this to be my last Will and Testament.
