On the campus of Taylor University in Upland is the grave of the 
first president of that institution, Thaddeus C. Reade.  The beautiful 
stone bears this inscription:

				1846 --------------1902

			   PRESIDENT OF TAYLOR UNIVERSITY
				1891 --------------1902
		______________________________________________
			SCHOLAR-----EDUCATOR-----THEOLOGIAN
			PREACHER-----POET-----PATRIOT
			SERVANT OF GOD-----FRIEND OF MAN
			BENEFACTOR OF STRUGGLING YOUTH.
