“OBITUARY. Carmichael

Archabel CHARMICHAEL was born in North Carolina, April 17, 1819; died May 21, 1904; aged 86 years, 1 month and 4 days. Deceased came to Indiana when quite young with his parents and settled in the eastern part of Center Township. At the age of twenty-one he was converted and joined the Baptist Church, to which he closely lived until the time of his death —sixty-four years a true and faithful member, ever ready to talk on the subject of religion.

He was the son of Alexander CARMICHAEL, was married to Elizabeth SPARKS in 1840, and to this union thirteen children were born. Their names are as follows: John C. CARMICHAEL, Alexander, William H., Matilda J., Martha Ann, Joseph H., Mary, Wesley, Sylvester, Archabel, Mart, Washington and Ensley. There are fifty grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Elizabeth CARMICHAEL departed this life November 25, 1877, and in March 1878, he was again married to Mary CARROL. She died in April 1894. Since that time he has made his home with his children, and for the last year he has been staying with his son, Sylvester. On May 17 he was stricken with paralysis, after which he never regained consciousness.

The funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. John BREEDEN and at the CARMICHAEL Cemetery by Rev. ELLIS and Peter OLIPHANT.

By this death the church loses a faithful member, while he was able to attend; the community a good citizen and the children that survive him, of which there are seven, a kind and loving father. During his sickness the neighbors and friends lent a helping hand. The children have the sympathy of the entire community in this sad hour of bereavement. Thus ends the life of another of Greene County ’s pioneers. J. W. P.

THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, BLOOMFIELD, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, April 7, 1927,Volume LI, Number 22, Page 1, Column 3,DEATH'S HARVEST”CARMICHAEL.

As the second day of April 1927 peacefully slipped away so went the life of another Jackson Township pioneer citizen. Sandy A. CARMICHAEL, a son of Reuben and Micca Jane CARMICHAEL, was born May 18, 1856, in Center Township, near Cincinnati. .

He departed this life at his home near Old Clifty church April 2, 1927. He was therefore seventy years ten months and fourteen days..

His entire life was spent near his birthplace. He was married to Sarah C. HUDSON about forty-nine years ago, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Martin C. FULK. To this union was born twelve children, four of which died in infancy. Anther died in childhood and one was accidentally killed by a falling tree. He leaves to mourn their loss, Martin Luther, of Lyons; Frank, of Switz City; Harley, of Owensburg; Mrs. Francis CORBIN, of Switz City; Mrs. Dolly HUDSON, of Owensburg; Mrs. Stella Mae TURPEN, and the aged companion and mother at home; eleven living grandchildren, three brothers and many other relatives and friends. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death..

Sandy as he was commonly known among his neighbors and friends was converted to the Christian faith at Richland church under the ministership of Martin C. FULK. He joined the Baptist church and took part in the work of all churches. He remained consistent in the faith until the end and found great pleasure in reading and studying the Bible.

His going only reminds us that in a few days all that breathe must share his destiny. This scene makes our thoughts drift back to those of the poet, who said, 'So live, that when thy summons comes to join the innumerable caravan which moves to that mysterious realm where each shall take his chamber in the silent halls of death.'.

The funeral was preached at the Old Clifty church in Jackson Township last Monday afternoon, by Rev. SKINNER. Interment in the Mood cemetery. .

We desire to thank our many friends for their kindness in our sad bereavement, in the loss of our beloved husband and father..

'OBITUARY. Cullison'
Mary C. CULLISON was born September 1, 1862, died March 13, 1903. Age 49 years, 6 months and 12 days. She was the daughter of Squire and Clarrisa MEREDITH living near Cincinnati, Indiana. She leaves a father, mother, brother, five children and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her untimely death.

She united with the Christian Church at Cincinnati in 1878, and remained a member until her death.

She was twice married, both husbands having preceded her to the better land. Her sickness was of nearly one year's duration. During this time all that could be done by a physician, relatives and friends was done to relieve her of her sufferings, but their labors were to no avail.

A short time before she died, realizing that her end was near, she called her children to her bedside and told them not to grieve, that she was going to rest. Kissing her little babe she bade them all good bye, when she died without a murmur or a struggle. Her remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Mineral, Sunday, March 15, there to await the resurrection morn.

Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
Here thy loss we deeply feel;
But 'tis God that has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.

Yet again we hope to meet thee
When the day of life is fled.
Then in Heaven with to greet thee
Where no farewell tear is shed.
