The dead squirrel fell on the 50 cents, so he took it to Ida. This is the story of how they started going together. (Common rumor at the time said that he used that as an excuse and really took the fifty cent out of his pocket.

DARREL WILLIAM CLARK born August 11, 1910 in Arlington, Kansas died June 13, 1986 McPherson, Kansas. buried July 16, 1986, McPherson Cemetary; married June 03, 1938 ELENOR LEE KUBIN born June 27, 1913 McPherson, Kansas daughter of EDISON KUBIN and EMMA LEE

Darrel William Clark, son of Joseph and Lulu Fowler Clark, was born August 11, 1910 near Arlington, Kansas and died July 13, 1986 at McPherson, Kansas.

Darrel attended country school near his parent's farm until the family moved to Sylvia, Kansas, and then to Hutchinson, Kansas where he graduated from Hutchinson High School and attended Hutchinson Junior College. He graduated from Emporia State Teacher's College in Emporia, Kansas.

Darrel participated in school and college sports and played on the first Globe Oiler's basketball team when he began work at the Globe Refinery in McPherson in 1933.

On June 3, 1938 Darrel married Elenor Lee Kubin in McPherson, Kansas, later moving his family to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1943 where he worked in a new high octane oil refinery. Again in 1955, he moved his family to St. Paul, Minnesota where he was a supervisor for the Koch Refining Company. Upon retirement in 1972 he and Elenor returned to McPherson to live.

Darrel had a life long interest in sports and over the years became very knowledgeable of major league baseball. He was a member of McPherson's Elks lodge No. 502 and Masonic Lodge No. 172.

Darrel was extremely proud of his two children, Philip Edison and Miriam Lee Clark and his four grandchildren. A special joy in recent years were visits from his great granddaughter [Diane].

During his working years and in retirement Darrel kept in touch with many people, some ill, some shut-ins, some neighbors, some relatives and some friends. His caring and concern were the forces and pleasures of his daily life.

Surviving members of his family include his wife, Elenor, of the home; his son, Philip E. Clark, Ridgefield, Connecticut; his daughter, Miriam L. Clark, Lakewood, Colorado; two sisters, Opal Holdeman, Kansas City, Missouri and Flossie Mock, Hutchinson, Kansas; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter; other relatives and friends. - Memorial Card
