Notes for GEORGE FRANKLIN PLUE: From "History of Sullivan County," Godspeed edition 1884, page 822, here is a paragraph about him.

"GEORGE F. PLEW, physician and surgeon of Pittsburg, was born in 1848 in Sullivan County, Ind., where he was reared upon a farm and educated in the high school at Farmersburg, after which he taught school for several years in Vermillion County, Ind. He began reading medicine in 1873 with Dr. B.F. Stafford at New Goshen in Vigo County, Ind, but later of Terre Haute, when Dr. Plew completed his studies.He took his first course of lectures in 1874 and 1875, at the Indiana Medical College at Indianapolis, and after at the Rush Medical College, Chicago, which graduated him in 1876. He began the practice of medicine in Pittsburg (Hymera) in the same year, where he has been eminently successful both in building up a large and lucrative practice and is meriting the esteem of his fellow citizens. He married in 1877, Miss Flora Welty, daughter of Dr. Welty, deceased. They have two children--Raphael S and Clifford. Dr. Plew taught music before he began the practice of medicine."

A FURTHER NOTE FROM Joy Brunker Davenport's biography is -"Jackson Twp. Sullivan and Greene Counties Dr.'s John H. and George F. Plew were brothers. A sister Sarah Plew Haggett (my records show Hoggatt) wove and sold carpets. Brother Theodore veterinarian in Jasonville, Ind. Children Baxter was a pharmaceutist, Raphael, a coal miner and Clifford was a Dentist."
