Greene County Drive-in, Linton![]() It is located on State Road 54 East of Linton, Greene, Indiana and was known as the Linton Drive-in Theatre It is Indiana's Oldest; Drive-in movie theatre and the big screen was first lit in 1948. After a tornado hit in 1950 and took out the orginial screen it was replaced, being supplied by the owner of the Shelburn theater . When it orginially opened, audio was provided by two huge speakers, one on each side of the screen; until 1952, when window speakers were provided for every car. It had been operated for half a century up until 1988 by the same man that first lite up the screen in 1948 - Charles Cassida. |
