Brenton Family

My 2nd great grandfather apparently didn't live in Greene County too long. Henry H. Brenton married Mary Kimberly Robinson in Marion County, Indiana on 13 Oct 1828. I do not find them anywhere on the 1830 census, then they are in Morgan County in 1840 and Greene County in 1850. Below is them in 1850.

Henry was a clergyman at the time, and I've found some marriages in Owen County he may have performed. He could have lived in either Morgan or Greene County at this time.

After the 1850 census I find Mary and the 4 oldest children nowhere. I find Zenas and Ephraim (Arthur) in Vigo County in 1870, and Arthur again in 1880. I have wondered if Henry and the 2 youngest were away from home when a disaster struck. I also find the 2 youngest in the 1890-92 Terre Haute directory, (below).(Sorry have not found the 2 photos as yet)

Henry married Louisa Ann Helton on 15 July 1855 in Bowling Green, Washington Twp, Clay County, Indiana. Henry was 49 and Louisa was 27. I don't find them on the 1860 census, then in 1870 they are in Lost Creek Twp, Vigo County, and Henry is a farmer. My mystery is, what happened to Mary and the 4 oldest kids between 1850-1855. I suppose they could also have divorced, but Henry and Louisa named their only daughter Mary, which I think unlikely if there was a divorce. This is about all I have on my family in Greene County. If I find more I will send it along.

7 vi. Ephraim Arthur BRENTON was born NOV 1842 in Indiana. He married Jane BAKER 4 MAR 1866 in Vigo, Indiana, daughter of Joseph BAKER and Elizabeth MING. She was born OCT 1845 in Vigo Co., Indiana, and died 5 DEC 1914 in Seelyville, Vigo County, Indiana.
