Dora B. Wright & Owen Atkerson

Good Morning, I just recently began researching our family history. I started this project for a gift to my parents who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in June.

My father and mother are both from Greene County. My siblings and I all were born in Greene County too. We moved to Indpls in 1965.

I have traced our family back to the mid 1700 on my mothers side, however I have not been very successful on my fathers side. My father was born 10-11-1939, to a Dora B Wright and Verena (Riggle maiden name). They lived in Marco. My father only knows that his parents divorced when he was around the age of 3. His mother moved to Oaktown and remarried, he thinks her name was/is Johnson now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On my mothers side, I have found lots of family history information. I was wondering if you could help me with one thing.

My mother's parents and brother, died in a house fire in Greene County, April 1941. My mother was about 7 - 11 days old. Her parents were Owen (Arin) and Martha Belle Atkerson. Her brother's name was Clifford Lee Atkerson. My mother was raised by her real mom's sister, Frances Blevens.

When my mother's parents and brother died, my mother was raised by her mother's sister, you lived in Linton. Their last name was Blevens. Both have since passed away. Ray Bleven's was a dairy farmer off of 59. It is such a small world sometimes.

I have been searching for a copy of the original newspaper article. Not sure if there was even one. I was hoping to find one and give to my mother. Could you help me with this as well.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Janet E. Bentley
