Lieut. John T. Owen has requested us to state that he has declinded to submit his claims before the Union Convention as a canidate. He has withdrawn in favor of any soldier who may nomonated, as it is his desire that one of Uncle Sam's boys should have the race.
The Democracy of this county met in convention, at Bloomfield on Saturday last, and after considerable wrangling...

We learn that James R. Baxter, Esq. is spoken of as the Union candidate for Senator in the counties of Owen and Greene - If he will accept the nomination, he is THE man for the place. He is a fluent speaker, a good debater, and would make an diustrious and infulential member of the Senate.
Godfrey Shryer, of this place used his influence afainst John R> Stropes for the office of Treasurer, in the late Democratic Convention, and defeated him. Bully for Godfrey - he's a BIG Democrat as he "run the Democratic machine" last Saturday by himself.
A HARD CASE - Green Tally, an old citizen of this vicinity, who has lived withhis wife for nearly fourty-five years, raising a large family, was divorced from her on the 25th of May, and on the 2nd inst., was married to Kate Vaughn, his mistress. Mrs. Tally obtained a divorce on the ground that he was living in adultry.
We would say to all who visit our town for the purpose of purchasing....
..prise will be put through
Everywhere throughout the country new men and new business establishments are spring into activity, and soon those old business men and houses who have occupied the public mind prominently for years, will be forgotten by the public or wept out of existence by the anterprice of "young America", who, full of enery and activity, seems determined to never say "FAIL", but push on to success, employing every available means offered by the public press to place themselves before th public, and to attract the attention of the trading public to their establishments. Times are not as they were a few months ago - the man who wants success now in buisness must work - must advertise, becasue this great Yankee Nation is rushing with rapid strides tot hat point where the rebellion retarded our prosperity, and only those who keep up with the times, and keep their business before the people, will succeed - all others will sink before the rolling, surging tide of energy and enterprise. Therefore, we say to all men, in whatever business they desire to succeed, make liberal use of Printer's Ink by ADVERTISING!
