Curtis Welton and Miss Edna FreemanCurtis Welton and Miss Edna Freeman Worthington Times - date unknown ENGAGEMENT OF CURTIS WELTON AND MISS EDNA FREEMAN On Monday evening, Miss Edna Freeman, entertained her girl friends at the beautiful home of her parents on West Main street announcing her engagement to Mr. Curtis Welton. After music and contest little John Austin Keck, of Rockville, Ind., nephew of Miss Freeman, entered carrying a basket holding a dove with a card bearing the following message "The dove knows, and all will know before the month of October closes" which announcement came as quite a surprise to the girls. Refreshments of cake, cream, and coffee were served. The place cards were pink baskets filled with tiny pink hearts, on the handle bearing the name of each guest. The guests were Misses Grace Throneburg, Myra Brouilette, Naomi Cooper, Doris East, Madeline Hampton, Helen Hampton, Verge Wadsworth, Helen Wadsworth, Leoma Griffith, Nelle Jean, Edna Turner, Marguerite Hays, Mrs. Earl White, Mrs. John Hummell, Mrs. Chas. Martin, Mrs. Moore McIntosh, Mrs. Maude Dalbridge and Mrs. Andrew Humphreys of Linton, Ind., Mrs. John Keck, of Rockville, Ind., and Mrs. George Miller, of Columbus. GIVEN FOR MRS. CURTIS WELTON BY GIRL FRIENDS At the Home of Miss Wadsworth...Decorations in Keeping with Hallow E'en. On Monday evening, the Misses Madeline Hampton, Leoma Griffith, Verge Wadsworth and Mrs. Andrew Humphreys, entertained at the home of Miss Wadsworth with a miscellaneous shower in honor of the bride Mrs. Curtis Welton. The decorations were in keeping with Hallowe'en, the rooms being lighted with jack-o'-lanterns, each light on the chandlier being covered with small pumpkin faces, and on either corner of the piano was a large pumpkin with the initials E.F. and C.W. cut in them. After each guest had arrived they were given the name of an animal and long sticks of white chewing gum and were given ten minutes to chew the gum and mould the animal named. Mrs. Chas. Martin received the prize, the animal being a beaver which was moulded almost perfect. In another contest the guests were given numbers and as their number was called they were to go to the bedroom, unpack a suit case containing a "Charlie Chaplain" hat, a cane, monocule and coat and dress in them and walk through the rooms and back and repack the suit case. This proved to be very amusing. Mis Doris East, accomplishing this in twenty-five seconds which was the shortest time was given the prize. Refreshments of brick cream, cake and coffee were served. The favors were tiny boxes filled with candy with tiny skeletons standing on the box. The one the bride received contained the following note, "Tis Hallowe'en, this goblin tells you careful be what you are about, there are many little secrets hidden which you should be finding out," which secrets the bride found hidden all over the house. The guests were Mesdames Earl White, Chas. Maartin, John Hummel, Lloyd Hays, Curtis Welton, Moore McIntosh, Misses, Helen Hampton, Doris East, Mary Cushman, Naomi Cooper, Myra Brouillette, Helen Wadsworth, Grace Throneburg, Edna Turner, Neila Jean, Marguerite Hays and Maude Delbridge, of Linton Indiana. A POPULAR YOUNG COUPLE MARRIED LAST NIGHT A Long Expected Wedding Solemnized by Rev. J. A. Breeden, at the Parsonage. Curtis Welton and Miss Edna Freeman were quietly married yesterday at 5:30 p.m. at the Methodist Parsonage, by the pastor, Rev. J. A. Breeden. At 6:42 the newly-wedded pair left for Chicago. This wedding was the happy _ of a courtship which began in their school days. Both are graduates of Worthington High School. While it had been long anticipated it was a sudden surprise, as friends did not expect it to occur until next week. In this marriage, two influential families are united. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ham Welton. For several years he has been local agent of the Prudential Insurance Co. and his work has been so successful that he has been offered a promotion. He is a young man of splendid habits, indefatigable energy and sterling character. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Freeman and her beauty and sweetness of disposition have won the admiration and love of a large circle of friends. Upon their return from their wedding journey the happy young couple will, for a time, reside with the bride's parents in their beautiful home on West Main street. The Times offers sincere congratulations to this splendid young couple. |
