Bill Lee COLLINS

Bill Lee COLLINS, 59, of Linton, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, December 27 at Greene County General Hospital.

Born January 6, 1934, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Harry W. Sr. and Inez (CORBIN) COLLINS.

He was presently a member of the Greene County Council. He was deputy sheriff for two terms under Bub BYERS administration. He was elected sheriff for one term from 1978-1982. He drove for VEST Trucking in Bloomfield for seven years. For the past four years, he worked as a dispatcher for the Linton Police Department. He was a member of the Olive Baptist Church and the Linton Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Linda (SMITH) COLLINS; his father of Linton; four sons, Bill COLLINS, JR and Kenny KORTUM, both of Linton, Ron COLLINS of Edgewater, Florida and Tom COLLINS of Palm Bay, Florida; one daughter, Naomi HOLLIFIELD of Linton; two brothers Harry J. COLLINS of Linton and James H. COLLINS of Harrisburg, Illinois; one sister, Greta HILL of Marion, Illinois and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Dale COLLINS and his mother.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 31 at Welch & Cornett Linton Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth ADAMS officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
