John R. Davis, 79, of Bloomfield, passed away at 5:10 a.m. May 14, 2004 at Lyons Health & Living Center.
Born Oct. 12, 1924 in Solsberry, he was the son of Frank and Marie (Ray) Davis. He had been married to Mattie Marie Davis, who passed away April 3, 2004.

He was a farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. He attended Mount Zion Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include, two sisters, Marcella McDaniel of Bloomfield and Betty Alexander of Bloomington; and one brother Joe Davis of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mattie Marie Davis (April 3, 2004); two sisters, Wilma Hunter and Mildred Flater; one brother George Davis; and his parents.

Funeral service will be today at 10 a.m. at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with burial at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield. There will be graveside service by the American Legion Post 450 Solsberry.

Visitation was Sunday from 4-8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until the time of service today at the funeral home.
