Mat FLYNN

“MAT FLYNN, FORMER SHERIFF OF GREENE COUNTY, DIES AT HOSPITAL AT INDIANAPOLIS—Injury Proves Fatal To Prominent Citizen of County; Death Caused by Pneumonia.”

Mat FLYNN, ex-sheriff of Greene County, passed away Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the Methodist hospital at Indianapolis. Mr. FLYNN had been injured several weeks ago when he was working among the stock on his farm. This injury had developed into an abscessed lung.

On May 17, he had been taken to Indianapolis for observation and treatment but returned home two days later. The following week he was taken back to the hospital.

Everything possible was done to save his life, but pneumonia developed and caused his death.

Mr. FLYNN was fifty-five years old. He was born January 20, 1882, the son of Burl and Myalma (HARPER) FLYNN. He had lived practically all of his life near Koleen. He was well known as an eastern Greene County farmer. He was an ardent Republican and served as Sheriff of Greene County in 1935{sic} and 1936{sic}, making an enviable record in that office. His pleasant manner and kindly disposition created many new friends for him among the residents of Bloomfield.

He is survived by the widow {Ida Jane (CORBIN) FLYNN}; one sister, Bertha CULLISON, of Switz City; two brothers, Ott and Claude FLYNN.

Funeral services were held this morning at 10 o’clock at Walnut Grove Church.
