Luda Jane CARMICHAEL MEREDITH, "." Luda Jane CARMICHAEL, daughter of John W. and Susan CARMICHAEL, was born August 3, 1849, and died April 17, 1921, aged seventy-one years, six months and fourteen days. She was one of a family of sixteen brothers and sisters, of whom only four remain - John R., of Conway, Iowa; Solomon E., of Lake Helen, Fla., Mrs. Amanda RIDDLE, of Bloomfield, and Mrs. Mary E. YOHO, of Cincinnati. One sister well known in Bloomfield for excellent service as a landlady, Mr. S. E. COMBS, died a few years ago. A number of this large family of children died in infancy. March 7, 1872, Luda was married to William A. MEREDITH. To this union were born three children. The oldest, Charles, died while a little toddling, prattling boy of some three summers. The other two, Ernest A. and Mrs. Mamie Sullivan, both of Bloomfield, R. F. D. remain, as does the husband and father, to mourn the loss of a wife and mother. She became a member of the Christian church at Cincinnati about thirty years ago under the ministry of Uncle Henry FLOYD, of precious memory. She was a plain, unassuming woman, a devoted wife and mother, a kind, obliging neighbor, and taking special delight in ministering to the poor and needy. Those who knew and loved her best have good reason to believe that the Master, in appraising her life, will say unto her, "well done, good and faithful servant." The funeral services were held in the new Christian church in Cincinnati on Tuesday, April 19, 1921, the first service of the kind ever held in the house, which was filled to its capacity. The body was then conveyed to the Carmichael cemetery, some three miles southeast of Cincinnati, where it was laid to rest till Jesus comes. THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, VOL.
