David A. NealDavid A. Neal Was One of the Earliest Settlers of Stockton Township. David A. NEAL, a pioneer resident of Greene County, died at his home in east Stockton Township, Sunday, January 14. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. H. CARNES at his home January 17. The deceased was born Nov. 23, 1842 near Uniontown, PA. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Ohio, and in 1860 emigrated to Greene County, where on Oct, 24, 1865, he was married to Barbara Ann RAIGLE, who died May 4, 1895. The surviving children are Mrs. Emma LINKMEYER of Coffeyville, Kas; Mrs. Edna MEACHEM, of Acton, Ind., and Misses Nora and Alva NEAL, of Stockton Township. He was a man of generous impulse and never forgot the hospitable ways of the pioneer. The stranger, even though a beggar, never failed to find food and shelter if he sought it at this hands, and he was at home by the bedside of the sick and delighted in all kinds of neighborly offices. He had borne adversity bravely and enjoyed prosperity quietly He had filled the various relations of life, as son, husband, father, brother, friend and filled them well. Who can do more.
