Sherrard Rites Conducted Today

Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Mt. Zion Wesleyan Methodist Church for William Clarence SHERRARD, 81-year-old former resident of Highland Township. Burial, in charge of Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, was in the Grandview Cemetery.

Mr. SHERRARD passed away at 6:30 o’clock Tuesday morning at the home of a son, Clarence SHERRARD, JR, on Linton, R. 1.

He was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, on May 11, 1878, and was the son of John and Ruth (COLE) SHERRARD. He had resided in Highland Township for a number of years.

Mr. SHERRARD is survived by the wife, Mrs. Armilda Jane SHERRARD; four daughters, Mrs. Virginia RICE and Mrs. George BARNARD, of Mishawaka; Mrs. Walter RIENERT and Mrs. Richard SWAN, of Indianapolis, and five sons, Clarence, JR, at whose home he died; Orval SHERRARD, of Hammond; Otis SHERRARD, of Mishawaka; Charles Lee SHERRARD and Eugene SHERRARD, of Indianapolis. The following step-children,
also survive: Mrs. Hobert THOMAS, of Shelbyville; Audley HARRAH, of Newark; Mrs. Jack WILLIS, of Indianpolis; Mrs. Frank DOWDEN, of Bloomfield; three brothers, John, Ferd and Charley SHERRARD, of Herrin, Illinois; 39 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jack and Otie SHERRARD.
