Arabelle SHRYER

DEATH CLAIMS TWO
Mrs. Shryer and Mrs. Nickerson, Well Known Women,
Have Been Called Home

After and illness of paralysis, which resembled very much the disease known in children as infantile paralysis, dating back to last October 24, Mrs. Arabelle SHRYER, wife of Oscar W. SHRYER, passed peacefully to her reward about 10 o’clock Wednesday forenoon.

She was conscious nearly all the time until the end and for many weeks she suffered a great deal, but was patient and thoughtful for those of her family who constantly attended her bedside.

Mrs. SHRYER was one of Bloomfield ’s noble women and she always had much concern for the welfare of everyone in the community. She was enthusiastic in civic affairs and it was her constant aim to make grow and encourage others to grow two —and even more —blossoms where one grew before. Not only real flowers to grace the landscape but she believed in planting words in language of flowers that all might be happier for her being here. She was a guiding spirit in club affairs and her church, the Presbyterian, profited by her thoughtful allegiance to it. She is gone but her good works remain as an inspiration to others who will continue the work she loved to do.

Mrs. SHRYER was born in Greene County May 1, 1854, and was therefore aged fifty-eight years, eight months and twenty-eight days when called home. Her maiden name was CRESSY and her mother was the late deceased Mrs. Kate CONLEY. She became the wife of Oscar W. SHRYER on October 28, 1873, and their union was blessed with two sons —Frank W. SHRYER, of Toledo, O., and George C. SHRYER, of Los Angeles, Calif. George has been here during the greater part of his mother ’s illness and Frank has been at the bedside as much as his business would permit. The grief stricken husband, to whom the sympathy of everyone is extended, has hardly been absent from the sickroom a moment since his companion was stricken.

The deceased leaves besides her immediate family one granddaughter, Mary Alice SHRYER, two half sisters, Mrs. R. T. BURRELL, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. H. H. IRWIN, of Baltimore, and one-half brother Walter CONLEY, of St. Louis. She also leaves many other relatives and a large circle of friends and acquaintances.

The funeral services will be private and will be held at the family home on East Main Street, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o ’clock, conducted by Rev. L. P. MARSHALL, of the Presbyterian Church.

Interment in Grandview Cemetery.
