Mattie (BRAWAND) SLINKARD

DEATH'S HARVEST SLINKARD.

Mattie (BRAWAND) SLINKARD was a daughter of Christian and Margaret BRAWAND, who emigrated from Switzerland in an early day. She was born the 24th day January 1867, and departed this life, May 31, 1921, aged fifty-four years, four months, and seven days.

She was born in Taylor township, Greene county, where she spent her happy girlhood days a farmer's daughter, attending the country school.

At an early age she joined the Christian church at Antioch. Later she transferred her membership to the church at Bloomfield.

The BRAWAND family moved to Newberry. On September 1, 1889, she was married to Theodore E. SLINKARD, and to them four daughters were born -Bonnie, Raye, Margaret and Wilma?all of whom with their father, survive.

After their marriage they moved to Linton, and then to Bloomfield, where he husband practiced law.

She has seen her daughters grow to womanhood, each to become teachers in the schools, and make real women. She lived an active life of service and full of noble self-sacrifice. She always allied herself on the side of the weak and helpless. She constantly cared for the sick, extended her boundless sympathy to the suffering about her. Her loyalty and devotion to her husband and daughters was the pride of her woman hood. Her great love for others made her loved by all who knew her.

She lived a christian life in devotion to the cause of her Master, remembering always the words of Him who said, "Lo, I am with you always."

We take this means of expressing our thanks for the many kind acts, ministrations and words of comfort which we received during the sickness and death of our beloved wife and mother.

THEO E. SLINKARD, BONNIE SLINKARD, FAY SLINKARD, MARGARET SLINKARD, WILMA SLINKARD.
