Theodore WALLS

DEATH’S HARVEST
WALLS

Theodore WALLS, son of Rufus and Marguerite Jane WALLS, early pioneers of this community, was born near Springville, Indiana October 18, 1858, and departed this life Friday morning, May 2, 1930, aged seventy-one years, six months and fourteen days.

He grew to young manhood near Owensburg and spent the greater part of his life in that vicinity.

In 1890 he was united in marriage to Anna May BRUCE, daughter of Henry and Amanda BRUCE, early settlers of Jackson Township. To this union was born Bertha HUMBLE, of Bicknell; Lester WALLS, of Wabash, and Claud, who died in infancy.

Then the wife and mother was called from this little family about 1893. Theodore was father and mother to these little ones until the year 1898, and at that time he was united in marriage to Nancy Ann MCBRIDE, daughter of Isaac and Martha MCBRIDE, another pioneer family of Jackson Township, and to this union was born an infant son and a daughter — Mrs. Martha MYERS, of Boonville.

He also leaves one half-brother, Ed FORDYCE, of Switz City, and six grandchildren.

On December 5, 1920, Nancy was taken from her family, after a long an suffering illness. Theodore nursed and cared for her most tenderly, and since that time he has lived alone on his farm, saying he was more contented there than any other place.

He was a man of few words, but they were words one could depend upon. He was an honest man, a hard worker, a good neighbor, and last but not least, he was a Christian. We do not know just when he confessed his faith in our Saviour, but we do know he read his Bible daily and lived very close to the teachings therein. He was a member of the Methodist church of Owensburg.

He was also a member of the I. O. O. F. for many years.

Theodore had been in poor health for some time. He would suffer intensely at times and again would be able to go about, but he never complained, and bore his suffering with patience. He is gone but not forgotten. He was laid to rest in the Owensburg Cemetery, Sunday, May 4.

Rev. Tom WAGGONER had charge of the services at the Methodist church at Owensburg.

We desire to express our sincere thanks to our fiends for their kind assistance and sympathy in the last illness and after the death of our father, Theodore WALLS; also Rev. WAGONER and Mr. LEHMAN and the quartet, and also the friends for the floral offerings.
