Theodocia WEBB

This community ws greatly shocked Wednesday over the announcement of the death of Theodocia WEBB, nee BRIDGES. She had been in declining health for some time, but, was able to perform her household duties until the day of her death, when she was stricken with paralysis. She had prepared their morning meal and commenced their week's washing when her husband came in and found her lying unconscious on the floor. A physician and some neighbors were summoned but to no avail, and at eleven o'clock p.m. her spirit took its flight to the God who gave it.

She was born in Harrisonville, Martin co., March 1, 1862 and was therefore 54 years of age. She was married to John WEBB, November 25, 1883. To this union six children were born, three girls and three boys, all living except one who died at the age of four years.

She united with the church when young and lived true to her faith until death.

She was a devoted wife and mother and besides toiling faithfully for her own children she was a mother to two of her grandchildren and seemed as much devoted to them as to her own. The writer has known her but a few years but never heard aught against her, but words of praise for her. She ws very much devoted to her family, always ready to make sacrifices for her children, forgetful of self, but mindful of others. She will be missed by her family and friends and a place is made vacant in the hoe by the death of mother, that can never be filled but sad and awful as this dissolution called death to the christian mind beautiful thoughts return and they weep not as those who have not hope.

The husband and children, together with a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife, a loving mother and a kind neighbor.

The funeral was conducted at the M. E. church at Owensburg by Rev. CLAY and she was laid to rest in the cemetery at that place Friday, January 26. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.
