RANEY, HAWKINS, ACTION
My grandfather's name was Arther "Pop" Raney. His father's name was Joesph H. Raney. He died in Madison 1931. Wife's name is Paulina Hawkins. And his father's name was Stephen Raney From Nashville Tenn. They arrived here right after the "War Between The States" and set up a home in Pleasent Run Township, in the little town of Heltonville. The last census that I found of him was the 1870 of Pleasent Run Township. He did have a brother that also followed him from Tenn.; I also found him in the same year, same place. Living with him at that time where the Parents, William and Kisiriah Raney. I have tried everything in my power to find out where Stephen is laid to rest. Would you have some clues? Oh, I did find a Stephen in Greene County marriages that married a Mary Action in 1878, I did try the courthouse in Bloomfield. All they had was a single land deed that he sold a plot of land and the year that it was sold. Thanks.
