Will of Benjamin Stafford SeniorBk. 1 page 12-14 Filed January 18, 1842 The State of Indiana Greene county} Novemebr 6th in the year of our Lord onethousand and forty-one Know all men by these presents that I Benjamin Stafford Senior of Greene county and State aforesaid on this the above named day do make my last will and testament between Benjamin Stafford of first _ and my heirs of the second part. Withnesseth that I Benjamin Stafford of the forst part doth will and bequeath in my last will and etstament to my wife Claupa Stafford of the county and state aforesaid a _ loand or parcel of land laying and being in the county of Greene and state aforesaid. The following described land towit ebing the southeast quarter of the north west quarter of seciont no. twenty-five in township No. six Range No. seven West containing forty aces be the same more or less and all the appurtenances thereto belonging so long as she the same Claudpa Stafford reamins my widow. The have and to hold the same and if the said CLaudpa Stafford is never married nor given in marriage the _ named land and appurtenances goes to my heirs at her death, and her daughter Jonne Maxwell is to have twenty-five dollars out of the worth of said land at her death. I further bequeath to the above named Claupa Stafford, my bay mare, a saddle and bridle, one white cow and calf and all the houshold and kitchen furniture that _ the aforesaid CLaupa Stafford _ to _ our marriage. And I do furthermore bequeath unto her all we have made from our marriage up to this date excepr one bay horse and he remander of the stock cattler is to be sold at my death. I do further bequeath unto my sone Jesse Staffords son Benjamin twenty-five dollars of my estate. Also to John Staffords son George twenty-five dollars of my estate ALso to _ Staffords son Benjamin twenty-five dollars of my estate Also to John Borters son Benjamin I. Borter twenty-five dollars of my estate Also John Crooks son Benjamin twenty-five dollars of my estate Denise _ son Benjamin Twenty-five dollars of my estate Benjamin Staffo rds son _rlin twenty-five dollars of my estate David Stafford son William twenty-five dollars of my estate Also Ag_th Stafford children twenty-five dollars of my estate ALso _ _illets daughter Ann twenty-five dollars of my estate And Peggy Stafford twenty-five dollars of my estate To these the above named I have willed and bequeathed their S_d amounts And do further wish in my last will and testament that my executors and administratiors or any person or persons appointed thereto by law shall sell the above mentioned stock and collect all my outstanding debts as soon as the some can be done and divide the same equal among my _ heirs is my last wish. I _ the above as my last will and testament given under my hand and seal this _ above named and on day of our Lord 1841 atest:Benjamin (his X mark) Stafford (seal) Take _ notice that if any of the heirs who I have their S_fied amounts given them in this my last will and testament should decease _ above named amounts I bequeath in this my will to the youngest child in their respective family.John R. Bays both of the county of Greene and state aforesaid my executors or administrators _ my last will and testament Benjamin Stafford State of Indiana Greene county ss}J. R. _ Be it remembered that on this 17 day of January A.D. 1842 before me Samuel R. Cavins clerk of the Probate court in and for said county personally came Presley STafford and being by me duly sworn according to law desposes and says he was Benjamin Stafford Senior sign seal publish and declare the within writing to be his last will and testament and that he was at the time of its execution of sound mind and memory and that I sighned my name thereto as a subscribing witness in the presence of said testator at his request and in the presence of Joh B. Dixson the other subscribing witness. SO Help me God.
Subscribed and sworn to before me January 17, 1842 test S. R. Cavins Clk. State of Indiana Greene county ss} De it remembered that on this 18th day of January A.D. 1842 personallyappeared John R. Dixson before me Samuel R. Cavins clerk of the Probate court in and for said county and being by me duly sworn according to law desposes and says he was Benjamin Stafford Senior sign seal publish and declare the within writing to be his last will and testament and that he was at the time of its execution of sound mind and memory and that I sighned my name thereto as a subscribing witness in the presence of said testator at his request and in the presence of Presley Stafford the other subscribing witness.
