Elijah EdingtonBk. 5 pg. 367-8 In as much as life is uncertain and that death is sure I Elijah Edington, make this my last will and testament. It is my will that if there are any money left after I am put away it is my will that it be equally divided between my children Archibald, Francis, Sidney, and Margaret and it is my will that Sidney Edington my son takes charge of the property that I own in Owensburg, Indiana and my other effects, and it is also my will that the property must not be sold for any less than one thousand dollars but if it may be sold on these payments, hundred and fifty dollars must be paid down and that money to be paid to Archibald if alive but if not alive then to be paid to his wife. A note to Sidney Edington for two hundred and fifty dollars payable in six months. A note to Frances Decker for two hundred and fifty dollars payable in nine months, a note to Margaret Hatfield for two hundred and fifty dollars payable in twelve months and if the house can not be sold on the terms named then the house must be rented and I think it can be rented for seven or eight dollars a month and the money equally divided betweeen the heirs. I am also giving a list of my personal property and the price paid for each article and it is my will the children divide the things and not have them sold at a public sale. One carpet, $30.00; one stove $20.00; 1 coal oil cooking stove, $30.00; one be and mattress, $15.00; one feather bed, $15.00; one typewriter $20.090; one wollen blanket,$8.00 one wollen blanket $6.00; two comforts, $4.00 each, $8.00; one fancy bedspread, $5.00; one common $1.00; two pillows, $1.00 each, - $2.00; two fancy window blinds $3.00; two common $1.00; two fancy quilts $5.00 each, $10.00; one field glass $10.00; one watch $15.00; lawn mower $10.00; 1 step ladder $8.00; one rocking chair $12.00; 3 common chairs 2 dollars each, $6.00; one eight day clock $5.00; one hot and cold bottle $4.00; one lenaleum for floor $6.00; one garden plow $6.00; one wheel borrow $2.00; one spade hoe, and rake $2.00; one common wind curtain $1.00; one secretary $10.00.
Subscribed to by the said Elijah Edington in our presence and by him declared by him as such in the presence of each other, this the 15 of September 1924
State of Indiana Greene County ss: On this the 22 day of April A.D. 1925 in open court in the Greene Circuit Court in the State of Indiana _ _ _ Evert Lehman one of the subscribing witnesses to the annexed foregoing instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Elijah Edington late of Greene County in the State of Indiana, deceased, and departed this life of the _ day of April 1925 _ being now in open court duly sworn to testify the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth concerning the execution of the last will and testament of Elijah Edington _ _ _ is aforesiad testified as follows towit that he saw the said Elijah Edington in his life time but who is now deceased sign his name to the annexed and foregoing instrument of writing for his last will and testament that he heard him declare the same to be his last will and testament and that Evert Lehman affiant and Spencer Baker signed their names thereto as attesting witnesses at the request of said testator in his presence and in the presence of each other and that the _ so executed said last will and testament that said Elijah Edington was of full age to devise and bequeath his proerty that he was of sound and diposing mind and memory and thst he was not under coercion or restraint of any person or persons _ _ and further sayeth not.
Subscribed and sworn to in _ court on the 22 day of April A. D. 1925 In tesimony whereof I have hereunto se my hand and affixed the seal of said court at office in Bloomfield, Indiana on the 22rd fay of April A..D. 1925.
State of Indiana Greene County ss: I David F. Bland Clerk of the Greene Circuuit Court of Indiana do hereby certify that the annexed and foregoing last will and testament of Elijah Edington late of Greene County deceased has been duly admitted to probate that its _ execution was __ fully proven in open court by the testimony of Evert Lehman the subscribing witness here to whose proof together with said last will and testament has been duly recorded on page 367 of Will Record No. 5 now on file in my office. In testimony wherof I have hereunto set my hand and affied the seal of said court at office in Bloomfield, Ind. on this 22 day of April A.D. 1925
