E. Bryan SALMONS

E. Bryan SALMONS, son of William and Ellen SALMONS, was born in Ervin Twp, Howard Co. Ind. 10 Oct 1896. His father served in the Civil War.
On 3 Jun 1918, he joined the navy, and while on duty at Great Lakes, Ill. he was attached to Co. E 15th Regiment Aviation Camp.

Otto Lonzo SALMONS

Otto Lonzo SALMONS, son of James M. (deceased) and Savilla A. RICE SALMONS, was born in Kokomo Ind. 16 Jul 1889.
On 10 Dec 1917 he enlisted in the air service and from Ft. Thomas, Ky, he was sent to Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas. Three months later, he was sent for special instruction to the factory of the Wright Construction Co., Dayton Ohio. On 1 May 1918, he was transferred to Gerstner Field, Lake Charles, La.
On 16 Jul 1918, he embarked from Garden City L.I. for France, where he was attached to the First Army with the Second Pursuit Group. He participated in the St. Mihiel & Meuse-Argonne offensives. He left Brest for the States 5 Mar 1919 and was mustered out at Camp Zachary Taylor, Kentucky, 5 Apr 1919.

SAYLER, Arthur Johnson

SAYLER, Arthur Johnson, son of Joseph H. and Emma V. SAYLER was born 17 Sep 1889.
He was sent to Camp Zachary Taylor with the quota of 4 Sep 1918. He was assigned to the 15th Co Fourth Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade, and was discharged 5 Jan 1919.
He married Ruth Fern CHANEY before 1920.

Charles Francis SCHLEETER

Charles Francis SCHLEETER, son of Herman T and Anna WAGNER SCHLEETER, was born 16 Apr 1890 in Ripley Co, Ind.
He enlisted at Kokomo Ind and was sworn in at Fort Thomas, Ky 22 Aug 1917. While at Kelly Field, Texas, he was a member of the 120th and 76th Aero Squadron. On 4 Dec 1917 he left Garden City L.I. for Brest, France. On 17 Mar 1919, Sergeant SCHLEETER received his discharge at Camp Zachary Taylor, Ky.

    Wrennie SHEPHERD

    Wrennie SHEPHERD was born April 17, 1887. He first enlisted in the Regular Army. He is stationed at the Convalescent Center, Fort Smith, Ark.

    Buell SHRADER

    Buell SHRADER, son of Emery and Sadie COLE SHRADER was born at Greentown Ind. 16 Jun 1893. He married Madge TENNANT.
    After graduating from the Kokomo High School in 1911, he attended the Indiana State Normal two years. For 6 years he was a teacher in the county.
    He enlisted in the army at Ft. Thomas, Ky. 7 Dec 1917 and was assigned to the aviation field at San Antonio Tx; later he received instruction at Waco, Tx; Camp Morrison and Camp Lee, Va; and Camp Zachary Ky.
    He was discharged 7 Dec 1928 at Louisville Ky.

    John Wesley SLUSHER

    John Wesley SLUSHER, son of William and Amanda SLUSHER was born in Danville Ill. 28 Oct 1888.
    Beginning 10 Apr 1907, he served 4 years in the United States Navy. On 26 Apr 1916, he enlisted in the Canadian Army and on 14 Oct 1916 he embarked for France.
    In a few weeks he was sent to the firing line. He was wounded at Vimy Ridge; gassed at the battle of Lens and in the fighting at Somme.
    From 22 Oct 1917 to 29 Mar 1918 he was in an English hospital; then he sailed for Canada on a hospital ship. This ship was later sunk by the Germans off the coast of Ireland in May 1918. Sergeant Slusher was a member of the 21st Battalion, C.E.F.

    Howard J SOUTHAM

    Howard J SOUTHAM, son of William T. and Rebecca STROUSE SOUTHAM was born at Shamokin Pa 22 Apr 1890. On 29 mar 1918 he entered the army and went to Camp Zachary Taylor Ky. One month later, he was transferred to Camp Greene N.C. and on 10 Jul 1918, he left for overseas. He was stationed at St. Nazaire France with the Fourteenth Co 4th Regiment Base Section No. 1 Camp 8. He was discharged 28 Jul 1919.

    Ralph L. SULLIVAN

    Ralph L. SULLIVAN, son of James L. and Roberta Mae SULLIVAN, was born in Greentown Ind. 12 Feb 1896.
    On 22 Nov 1917, he enlisted in the navy at Indianapolis Ind. After a period of 3 weeks at the Great Lakes Station, he was transferred to Philadelphia, and left there for France 28 Aug 1918.

    James Everett SWOPE

    James Everett SWOPE, son of George R. & Dora E. MITCHELL SWOPE was born in Union Twp., Howard Co. Ind 31 May 1887. On Sept. 21, 1917 he was called into service and received his first military training at Camp Zachary Taylor, Ky; later he was ordered to Camp Shelby, Miss. and assigned to Co. I 152nd Infantry. On 3 Jun 1918, he left for France with the June automatic replacement troops, Co. No. 16 and after he arrived overseas, he was assigned to Co. H. 167th Infantry, 42nd "Rainbow" Division. He was on three of the most important fronts of the war: Chateau Therry, Verdun and St. Mihiel. Beginning 26 Jul 1918, he saw continuous service intil 5 Nov. when he was ordered to a rest camp for a stay of 5 weeks. In Feb. 1919 he was transferred to the 146th Infantry. His discharge was issued at camp Sherman, Ohio 24 Apr 1919.

    Oscar Ray SWOPE, son of William Russell and Myrtle SWOPE was born at Greentown Ind. in 1897. He attended high school one year. He enlisted at the army at Hannibal, Mo. and served in Fort Wayne, Detroit Mich. where he was attached to toe Q.M.C. He was discharged 7 Jun 1919.
