Howard County Indiana Migration

This section of the Howard County Indiana USGenWeb Project Website focuses on migration to and from Howard County.
As Indiana is known as "The Crossroads of America", Howard County has been both a destination and a starting point for many families looking towards a new life. Immigrants have come from as close as Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois, as as far away as China and Japan. Men and women with "restless feet" may have continued West or moved back East.

The current focus of this section is to illustrate the part Howard County has played in the "melting pot" of America, by providing documentation on immigrants from other countries. However, as more material is submitted (including information from visitors like yourself), this section will expand to include migration from and to other states as well.

You may wish to visit the Land Records section of this website, as many people who settled in the area eventually purchased land.

If you have access to migration related documents for Howard County residents (citizenship papers, journals, family Bibles, etc.), please contact the County Coordinator.
