Thursday, January 19 – Family Tree Detectives: a genealogy event for children in grades four to six will meet 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the Community Room of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library. Friday, April 21-- "Genealogy for Night Owls", our popular lock-in research evening from 5:30 pm - 12 am in the Genealogy & Local History Services Department of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library ( 220 N. Union St. Kokomo, IN 46901-4614). Fee includes a buffet dinner and door prizes. Registration begins April 3. Sunday, April 23 -- GLHS Department Open House & HCGS Membership Drive from 2:00 – 5:00 pm Tour the Genealogy & Local History Departmentat the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library and find out what is available. View demonstrations of available databases, ask questions of knowledgeable genealogists, and learn how and where to start your genealogy research. Howard County Genealogical Society members will be on hand to answer questions about the society and sign up new members. Receive a free Genealogy Beginners Packet. Door prizes will be given away. Friday, April 28 - Sunday, April 30 – Kokomo-Howard County Public Library’s Old Richardville Publications and the Howard County (Indiana) Genealogical Society will hold a book sale in conjunction with the Friends of the Library’s book sale. Sunday, July 23 -- "Barebones Genealogy", a NEW lock-in research event from 12 noon - 5 p.m. in the Genealogy & Local History Services Department of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library. This is concentrated research time while the library is closed. The event is free: there is no buffet dinner and door prizes like our Genealogy for Night Owls, but feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or snacks. Registration begins July 3.
