The INGenWeb Project

In June, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Indiana Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Indiana, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. This evolved into The INGenWeb Project.

At the same time, some volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page. Volunteers are still needed for many counties, either as Coordinators or assistants. If you would like to assist with the INGenWeb Project, contact the local County Coordinator for your area of interest, or write to the Indiana State Coordinator Debby Beheler , who can let you know where we need help.
