Doris Jean Christian
July 20, 1933 - Jan. 8, 2007Doris Jean Christian, 73, Seymour, died at 2:25 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.
Mrs. Christian was a member of Columbus First Methodist Church. She was employed in the dietary department at Lutheran Community Home and was a homemaker. She was a two-term president of Phi Beta Psi Sorority in Seymour and was an artist, cross-stitcher, card player and an excellent cook.
Born July 20, 1933, in Decatur County, she was a daughter of Ernest and Jemima Ketchum Moss, both of whom preceded her in death.
On May 29, 1949, in Columbus, she married James M. Christian, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Brenda (Butch) Isaacs, Seymour; two sons, James N. (Donna) Christian and Steve (Melissa) Christian, both of Seymour; a sister; Shirley Campbell, Columbus; three grandchildren, Jennifer Isaacs, Sarah (Clay) Hackman and Heather (Zachary) Morris; and two stepgrandchildren, Matthew Dittmer and Scott Dittmer; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Christian, and a sister, Donna Moss.
The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Leukemia Foundation.
