Harlan Deaton

Veteran.

Harlan Deaton, 81, Austin, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at Scott Memorial Hospital, Scottsburg.

Mr. Deaton was a coal miner and a World War II veteran. He was a member of Rural St. Free Holiness Pentecostal Church of God, Austin.

Born March 23, 1921, in Burwick, Ky., he was a son of Wilson Deaton and Nora Bush Deaton, who both preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Tishie Deaton, Austin; three sons, James H. Deaton, Austin, Tommy E. Deaton, Big Creek, Ky., and Jimmy Lee Deaton, Scottsburg; two daughters, Sandra K. Johnson, Scottsburg, and Patricia Deaton, Seymour; a brother, Charlie Deaton, Austin; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded by a daughter, Genevieve Martin; and a brother, Carl Deaton.

The Rev. Alex McIntosh will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. today at Buchanan Funeral Home, Austin. Burial will be at New Providence Cemetery, Austin.
