Earl Charles Hackman

Earl Charles Hackman, 75, Brownstown, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.

Mr. Hackman was a lifelong Holstein dairy farmer in Jackson County and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from December 1952 until August 1954, where he served 13 months on the Korean front line.

Born Oct. 29, 1931, in Jackson County, he was a son of Amos and Katie Duwe Hackman, both of whom preceded him in death. On Jan. 20, 1957, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, he married Joyce Goecker, who survives.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, survivors include two daughters, Tracy (Keith) Stam, Brownstown, and Karla (Brian) Thompson, Seymour, two sons, Blake Hackman, Brownstown, and Kyle (Cher) Hackman, Crothersville; seven grandchildren, Heidi (David) Lawrence, Heather (Carlos) Florido, Eric Stam, Katie Stam, Janelle Thompson, Benjamin Thompson, and Ethan Hackman; two great-grandchildren; Paige and Breanna Lawrence; five brothers, Eugene Hackman, Omer (Alvona) Hackman, Hubert (Mary) Hackman, William (Sandra) Hackman and Leon (Becky) Hackman, and a sister, Lois (Barry) Sommers.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Troy Douglas and Travis Earl Hackman.

The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sauers.

Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 89, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour.

Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church.
