Marian McCammon
August 9, 2006Marian McCammon, 88, of rural Seymour died at her home Monday, Aug. 7, 2006. She was a lifetime resident of Jackson County.
Mrs. McCammon retired from Excello Shirt Factory in Seymour after working 40 years.
She was a member of the First Marion Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Golden Heart and a former worker in the Women's Missionary Society. Mrs. McCammon was a Cortland High School graduate and was an avid reader on many subjects.
Born Oct. 31, 1917, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Price and Florence (Roberts) Trueblood, both of whom preceded her in death.
On Dec. 23, 1939, she married Buford Downs; he died Jan. 18, 1944. On June 7, 1947, she married Leonard McCammon, who died Nov. 26, 1993.
Survivors are two sons, Dr. Robert M. (Gayle) Downs Sr., Albuquerque, N.M., James L. (Rhonda) McCammon, Seymour; grandchildren, Kelly (Michael) Lichtenberger, Albuquerque, Nicole McCammon, Seymour, David (Jennifer) McCammon, Seymour, Anthony McCammon, Seymour, Stacy McCammon, Seymour; stepgrandchildren, Heather (Roger) Quillen, Crothersville, Richard (Mary) Hunt, Crothersville, Rachel (Curtis) Haines, North Vernon, Ryan (Kara) Hunt, Crothersville; 10 great-grandchildren and five great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two bothers, Paul and Doyle Trueblood; two sisters, Louise McKillip and Virginia Speckner; and one grandson, Robert M. Downs II.
Reverend Michael Cantrell will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m., Friday at First Marion Baptist Church, 7730 W. Jennings County Road 850S, Commiskey, with burial to follow at First Marion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at First Marion Baptist Church.
