Carl B. Nichols

Carl B. Nichols, 68, Austin, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Scott Memorial Hospital, Scottsburg.

Mr. Nichols was the former owner-operator of the old Nichols Wrecker Service for five years and former co-owner with his wife of the old Nichols Grocery on Rural Street, Austin, for 10 years. He was a member of Austin First Baptist Church and resided in Austin most of his life.

Born April 3, 1936, in Bulan, Perry County, Ky., he was a son of the late Harlan Nichols and Anna Mae McIntosh, who survives in Austin.

He also is survived by his wife, Emma Napier Nichols, Austin; two daughters, Deloria L. Whitt, Austin, and Brenda S. Snowden, Seymour; two sons, Carl B. Nichols, Orland, and Mark A. Nichols, Coldwater, Mich.; two sisters, Mary Von Strausmire, Toledo, Ohio, and Peggy Nichols, Georgia; a brother, Freddie D. Nichols, Georgia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg. Following cremation at a later date, interment will be at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Austin.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
