Russell D. Ray

Veteran.

Russell D. Ray, 85, Scottsburg, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, in Scottsburg.

Mr. Ray was a member of the VFW, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was retired from Tucson Police Department, Tucson, Ariz.

Born Dec. 27, 1916, in Indianaola, Iowa, he was the son of Altha and Helen Whitsitt Ray, who both preceded him in death. He married Mary F. Froman and she also preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sisters, Mary Comer, Scottsburg, and Betty Barnhizer, Franklin.

Lionel Talbott will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday at Stewart Funeral Home, Scottsburg. Burial will be at Scottsburg Cemetery, Scottsburg. The VFW will conduct graveside services.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, through the funeral home.
