Edgar Earl Roberts

Veteran.

Edgar Earl Roberts, 77, Scottsburg, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Louisville.

Mr. Roberts was a retired self-employed truck driver and attended Scottsburg United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Scott County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6582 and American Legion Post 234 in Scottsburg.

Born April 4, 1924, in Springfield, Mo., he was a son of J.C. Roberts and Ella Crossfield.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Benham, Tipp City, Ohio; a brother, J.C. Roberts Jr., Deputy; three sisters, Mildred A. Devers, Scottsburg, and Ida Rena Strouse and Helen Hammock, both of Bee Springs, Ky.; and two grandchildren.

The Rev. Douglas Wallace will conduct a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 9 of Madison.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg.

Memorials may be given to Scottsburg United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
