Terrell M. Turner Sr.
Terrell M. “Pete” Turner Sr., 81, Seymour, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Turner had retired from Golden Operations in December 1982 after 41 years and 10 months of service. He had been a core assembler. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 24. He lived in Bartholomew County most of his life, moving to Jackson County in 1974.
Born Nov. 27, 1920, in Hiseville, Ky., he was a son of Edwin Lewis and Nancy Olive Byrd Turner. In 1946, in Columbus, he married Ida Mae Stone, who died May 8, 1962. He married his present wife, Blanche Richards, on June 5, 1965, in Taylorsville, and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Cindy) Hopkins, Seymour; two sons, Terrell M. Turner Jr., Indianapolis, and William S. Lord, Nashville; two sisters, Nettie Turner, Washington, Maine, and Jeanne Joslin, Columbus; three brothers, Roger, Donnie and Jack Turner, all of Columbus; 11 grandchildren, Mark, Hayli, Kris, Wendy, Jessica, Terrell III, Lindsay, Toni, Dirk, Valerie and Darin; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, U.J. and Jerry Turner; a sister, Dora Hadley; and a great-grandson, Matthew Hyten.
The Rev. James Seddons will conduct services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel, 3729 25th St., Columbus. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
