Eugene Wheeler, 65, Vallonia, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at his residence.

Mr. Wheeler was a member of Haleysburg Church of the Nazarene. He worked at Wheeler Sawmill, Morgan Canning Factory and Plastics Factory of Medora.

Born Nov. 23, 1940, in Washington County, he was a son of Hendricks Tilden "Cappy" Wheeler and Mable Louise Head Wheeler, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 5, 1960, at Medora, he married Joy Ann Speer Wheeler, who preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2005.

Survivors include children, David Wheeler, Salem, Pamela Hill, Seymour, Darl Wheeler, Vallonia, Marcia Collins, Campbellsburg, Joe A. Wheeler, Medora, and Lloyd Wheeler, Vallonia; three brothers, Wayne Wheeler, and Harold Wheeler, both of Vallonia, and Joe Wheeler, Seymour; two sisters, Sharon Gibbons, Campbellsburg and Betty Cook, Salem; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deanna Kaye Wheeler; and two grandchildren.

Mark Roberts and Greg Underwood will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia. Burial will take place at Wheeler Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 12 noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Wheeler family.
