The Passing of Mr. D. M. Brown In the death of Mr. D. M. Brown, Chariton County has lost one of its oldest and best citizens. Mr. Brown was born in Jackson County, Indiana, November 23rd, 1831; he was married to Elizabeth A. Murphy January 1st, 1856. To this union were born eleven children, nine of whom are living. James M. Brown died February 14th, 1860, and Daisy died December 25th, 1890. Those living are Burton A., Clarence, Tom(?) and Ricy L. Brown and ---- Della Watson, Anna Hill, Myrtle Crabb, Iva Grady and Dollie Watterson, this -?- and respectable family livning in different parts of the country being nearly all present for the funeral. Some of them ministered to his wants during his last illness. Mr. Brown moved to Sumner, Clarion County, Missouri, in 1882 where he spent the remainder of his days. He was identified with every public interest of his community and was one time mayor of the town of Sumner. During his early manhood he was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. He died at midnight Sunday, November 5th, 1905. The faithful and devoted wife of his youth was with him to the last and like a ministering angel was attentive to his every want, and as far as possible, left no wish ungratified. This devoted woman and the dutiful sons and daughters have the sympathy of the entire community. "To living hearts we leave behind, Is not to die." - Grand A. Robbins.
