Lytle J. Leonard

If you have any information about the Leonard family, please email Mr. Tracy Leonard

My ggg grandfather was Lytle J. Leonard b. 1862 and died 1938. His mother was a Mary A. Leonard, listed on the 1880 Jackson County Census. I am trying to locate his father’s name.

The census (Seymour) 1880, lists that Lytle is 16 yrs old and a laborer and that his mother is the head of household and 55 yrs old and married. But it does not list any other information.

From my research, I know that Lytle Leonard married an Eva Dailey in 1887. Both Eva and Lytle lived in Jackson County for a couple years and then moved to Jennings County and then into Scott and Clark Counties. Both of them are buried in the Bowery Cem in Memphis, Indiana.

However another mystery is that there is no death certificate for Lytle Leonard either. I have hand researched the following Counties in Indiana, Jackson, Jennings, Jefferson, Scott, Clark and Washington Counties along with checking Jefferson County, Kentucky.

In addition, There was a Mary Leonard from Jennings County that committed Suicide in Jennings County IN 1886, (Finding only a newspaper clipping of the event) no known death record was found on her as well. Would please post this information in your mystery section, maybe someone out there may have some additional information regarding the Leonard Family.

Thank You.
