Three County Soldiers Killed, Two Are Missing

Two Jackson county soldiers, both residents of Crothersville have been killed, a Medora soldier has died of wounds sustained on the western front and a fourth, a scout in the Infantry, is reported missing in action in official messages received by members of their familyies from the war department. A later official message lists a fifth soldier missing in action.

Killed were Pfc. Donald Albert Walker and Pfc. Max B. Thomas, both of Crothersville. Succumbing to wounds suffered in action two days before was Pfc. Marlen Williams of Medora, while Pvt. Albert J. Wright, Brownstown R1, and Staff Sergeant Jesse J. Ault, Jr. of this city, are listed missing in action.

Ault Lost in Belgium.

Staff Sergeant Jesse J. Ault, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ault, 116 South Broadway, is reported missing in action January 5 in Belgium, according to a telegram received from the War Department by Mr. and Mrs. Ault this morning.

S/Sgt. Ault, who is twenty years old, entered the army early in 1943 and has been overseas since September, 1944. A member of an infantry division, S/Sgt. Ault received training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, adn at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky.

He attended the Tampico schools and was employed at Freeman Field prior to his induction into the armed forces.

S/Sgt. Ault's parents and friends hope to hear that he has found his way back to the American lines or has been made a prisoner of war.

Two brothers of S/Sgt. Ault are serving in the armed forces also. Sgt. Dale K. Ault is with a tank division in France, and Pvt. Harlan Ault is attending radio school at Wisconsin University, Madison, Wisconsin.

Another brother lives in Tampico, and two brothers and two sister are at home.
