Sgt. G. Larkin Killed in Italy

Husband of Local Girl Was Stationed At Freeman in 1943

Word was received Thursday night by Mrs. Janet Combs Larkin, of Rockford, that her husband, Sergeant George N. Larkin, age twinty-six, was killed in action December 20 in Italy. Sgt. Larin, who was a member of a bombing squadron in Italy, was stationed at Freeman Field from January to May in 1943, and had made many friends here who were shocked to hear of his death.

Sgt. Larkin was born October 20, 1918, in Key West, Florida, the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.R. Larkin, who survive. The family later moved to San Antonio, Texas where Sgt. Larkin graduated from Breckinridge High School there.

Immediately after graduation, he entered the armhy and had served a total of seven years. He was married April 10, 1943 in Brownstown, to Janet Combs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Combs, of Rockford, who also survives.

Mrs. Larkin will leave Monday to visit Sgt. Larkin's parents at Rockford.
