TWO LOCAL SOLDIERS DIE

Paratrooper Killed In Belgium

Names of two more Seymour young men today were added to the list of Jackson county men killed in action in World War II. Both were nineteen years of age.

Pvt. H. Rose Dies in Action

Rose Killed December 21

Private Herschel A. Rose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert F. Rose, 606 East Fifth street, was killed in action December 21 in Belgium according to a telegram received today by his parents.

Pvt. Rose was a paratrooper, and had been seeing active service on the Western Front.

Pvt. Rose was born June 27, 1925. He attended Shields High School and was well liked by a host of friends who are shocked to hear of his death. At the time of his induction he was employed by the Seymour Electric Hatchery.

Pvt. Rose entered the army October 24, 1943, and was sent overseas in June, 1944, where he was a member of Eagle Squadron of an airborne division.

Beside the parents, he is survived by one sister, Barbara Ann, age ten, at home, and one brother, Private Kenneth Rose, who was inducted into the armed forces just one week ago.
