Pvt. G. O. Smith Is Missing in Action, Wife Is Informed

Private George Orval Smith, husband of Mrs. Alice N. Smith, of Norman, has been reported missing in action since February 11, according to word received by his wife from the War Department.

Pvt. Smith, an infantryman with the Fifth Army in Italy, was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 27, 1943, and received his training at Fort McClellan, Ala., before being sent overseas.

A coach at Houston High School a few years ago, Pvt. Smith was employed by the International Harvester Company before entering the armed forces.

Pvt. Smith's sister, Lieutenant Mary Smith, is overseas with the Army Nurse Corps, and a brother Captain Elmer Smith, is serving with a bombardment squadron in Italy.
