Lt. R. Speer, Of Brownstown, Dies in Crash

Lt. Robert Speer, age twenty-one, of Brownstown, a pilot with the U.S. Army Air Forces, was killed in thge crash of an army plane in Brazil, South America, on June 7, according to a message received by his wife, Mrs. Olive Speer, of Indianapolis, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Speer, of Brownstown.

In Transport Command.

No detail of the crash were learned. Lt. Speer was a member of the Army Air Transport Command.

Lt. Speer had been in the air forces for about three and one half years. He received his wings at Ellington Field, Texas, on October 9, 1942, and since that time had been stationed in South America.

Lt. Speer was married on September 11, 1941, to Miss Olive Huber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oren Huber, living near Brownstown. Besides the widow and parents, he is survived by two brothers, Lloyd Speer and Junior Speer, both at home.
