Seymour Daily Tribune May 13, 2002 Geraldine Y. Ackeret Geraldine Y. Ackeret, 66, Seymour, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at her residence. Mrs. Ackeret worked at Cummins Engine Co. She was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Born Sept. 6, 1935, in Vallonia, she was the daughter of Clyde Jackson and Lillie Coffee Jackson, who both preceded her in death. On Aug. 25, 1956, in Jennings County, she married Harry “Sonny” Ackeret Jr. and he survives. She also is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Larry) Burton, Seymour, and Valerie Brown, Freetown; a son, William (Brian) Ackeret, Seymour; two brothers, Eugene Jackson, Greensburg, and Arnold Jackson, Chicago; a sister, Marcella Oliver, Seymour; 10 grandchildren, Jason Lange, Lindsey Bailey, Tennille (Ryan) Chandler, Leonard Burton, Sheena Burton, Joey Rollins, Chris Ackeret, Jimmy (Bronwin) Brown, Brady Ackeret and Bradley Evans; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Jackson. The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. The Ladies Auxiliary will hold a service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Jennings County Hospice or the Marc Chandler Scholarship Fund.
