Seymour Daily Tribune Randolph Lee Ackerman November 14, 2006 Feb. 14, 1946 - Nov. 13, 2006 Randolph Lee "Randy" Ackerman, 60, Belvidere, Ill., died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Mr. Ackerman worked in the cement finishing industry for a number of different companies. He loved to fish and to talk about fishing, as well as tinkering on the farm and caring for the animals, especially the ostriches. He was a decorated veteran giving service to our country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1970 and serving in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1964. Born Feb. 14, 1946, in Port Angeles, Wash., he was a son of Harvey and Alberta (Carlson) Ackerman. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Belvidere. Other survivors include his children, Shane Ackerman, Fullerton, Calif., and John (Christina) Ackerman, Friendship, Wis.; grandson, Ryan Ackerman, Wonder Lake, Ill.; sisters, Melody (Neal) Anderson, Rockford, Linda (Rick) Ferguson, Seymour, and Janis (Michael) Huff, Belvidere; ex-wife, Mary Ackerman, Poplar Grove, Ill. and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Stanley Lee; brothers, Jeffrey Lee and Gregory Lee. The Rev. Dr. Karl Otto will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, Ill. Burial will take place at Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation will be from 5 p.m., to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Cross Life Ministries in care of Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour.
