Seymour Daily Tribune December 27, 2006 Marjorie R. Adams May 17, 1926 - Dec. 26, 2006 Marjorie R. Adams, 80, Whiting, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Adams was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be missed more than words can express. She enjoyed doting on her family, reading and going for long walks. She was an independent woman who loved gardening, researching current events and keeping her life organized with lists and labels. Earlier this year, she traveled to Tahiti and enjoyed walking on the beach, island dance lessons, jet skiing, a jeep safari ride and swimming with sting rays and sharks. She was a member of Bethany Church of Christ, Sullivan County. She retired from Michigan Industrial Hardwood and was a former member of Women of the Moose -Whiting, Chapter #426. After graduating from Pleasantville High School in 1944, she attended business college and worked in downtown Chicago where she just might have assisted in changing the corporate fashion trend for women by disregarding the rules of long skirts and hat wearing because she felt it impacted her ability to do her job effectively. Born May 17, 1926, in Sullivan County, she was the daughter of James N. Plummer and Pauline (Fullerton) H. Plummer, both of whom preceded her in death. On March 30, 1946, she married Kenneth D. Adams in Sandborn, and they shared a long, loving life together for 59 years. Kenneth died with Margie by his side on November 10, 2005. Survivors include one son, Larry E. Adams, Whiting; one daughter, Linda G. (Patrick) Kendall, Huntingburg; five grandchildren, Buffy D. Adams, Ann Arbor, Mich., Michael E. (Alicia) Adams, Englewood, Fla., Mark E. (Leslie) Adams, Crothersville, Scott P. (Kimberly) Kendall, Huntingburg, and Bradley M. (Brooke) Kendall, Jasper; six great-grandchildren, Paige and Jenna Kendall, both of Huntingburg, Conner, Parker, Harper and Tucker Adams, all of Crothersville and one brother, James E. (Joyce) Plummer, Anderson. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jean Plummer. Pastor Paul Vale will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Owens Funeral Home, 816 119th St., Whiting, Indiana 46394. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army.
