Seymour Tribune - December 02, 2002 Sylvester E. Anderson Sylvester E. "Shorty" Anderson, 94, Crotherville, died at 6:22 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Anderson was a member of Faith Apostolic Ministries, Brownstown. He was retired from Arvins Industries, Seymour, and lived most of his life in Jackson County. Born April 22, 1908, in Surprise, he was the son of John M. Anderson and Cora Elkins Anderson, who both preceded him in death. He maried Edith Helen Jaynes in 1928 in Seymour and she preceded him in death in 1980. He is survived by eight sons, Sylvester L. Anderson, Paris Crossing, Gary Anderson, Seymour, James Anderson, Freetown, Jerry Anderson, Seymour, Damon Anderson, Seymour, Larry Anderson, Seymour, John Anderson, Crothersville, and Ricky Joe Anderson, Florida; five daughters, Barbara J. Sawyer, Spraytown, Sue Buster, Spraytown, Elaine Kinight, Scottsburg, Ramona Combs, Crothersville, and Kim Hatton, Freedom; two sisters, Catherine Yost Ballard and Mildred Lanier, both of Seymour; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sons; two daughters; two brothers, Frank and Melvin Anderson and three sisters, Gladys and Marie Anderson and Avis Tidd. The Rev. Nathan Philips and the Rev. Neal McCory Sr. will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral ome. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
