Seymour Daily Tribune - Friday, January 31, 1986 Ira 'Pete' Ashley Ira D. "Pete" Ashley, 62, of 125 S. Armstrong St., Crothersville, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at his apartment. He had been ill for a year. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and owned and operated Ashley Aluminum Foundry of Crothersville. He was a 32nd degree Mason in Kilwinning Lodge 506 of Louisville, Schottish Rite of Louisville, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1083 of Crothersville, the American Foundry Society and former vice president of Schmutz Foundry and Machine of Louisville. He was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Owensboro, KY., to Herbert P. Ashley and Allean White, both deceased. He had lived in Crotherville since December 1976. He was married June 1 1946, in Owensboro, Ky., to Dorothy Rice, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Ira David Ashley, Underwood; a daughter, Mrs. William (Vicki)Rhodes, Louisville; two brothers, Hubert "Bill" Ashley Sr., Scottsburg; and James Ashley, Oversboro; a sister, Helen Sheriff, Owensboo; and three grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kovener and Sons Funeral Home, Crotherville, with Jesse Urbano officiating. Burial will be in Scottsburg Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at graveside. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army.
